I am Neetu Jain, a freelance HR consultant. In these pandemic times, there has been no doubt a shortage of jobs, and many people are laying off a lot of employees. In this scenario, many graduates, who had a job earlier, are resorting to internships to hone their skills and get a good stipend.
We got a chance to talk to Dr. Gaurav Nigam, Founder, and CEO of Dr. Dad, a parenting and pregnancy platform. Dr. Gaurav Nigam is a pediatrician who has vast experience of being associated with bodies like World Health Education. When we found out about the internship program at Dr. Dad, we wanted to talk to few interns too, and what we found out was truly remarkable.
An internship is meant for learning, and that’s precisely what we are doing here at Dr Dad, says Indu, a 2-month-old intern at Dr Dad.
When we dived deep inside their program, we found out about how an intern is made familiarised in the first week with digital marketing, Research and development, content writing, and so much more. Sometimes, interns choose their own field too if they don’t want to learn other things and rather put all their energy into one area.
The best part is they don’t have any restrictions on the number of hours that we need to work for, when to work, and where to work. I am at my grandparent’s house in Himachal and working from here, says Rahul, another intern at Dr. Dad.
Internships are an excellent way to learn and get a practical aspect of learning. We enlist on a platform called Internshala, and people apply there. We get hundreds of applications for an opening, but since we can’t keep them all, we feel terrible to turn them down. We are trying hard to have 100s of intern slots with us, so we don’t have to say no, says Dr. Gaurav Nigam.
